Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11 (Mac users can run Windows via Parallels or similar)
  • An ELM327-compliant OBD-II adapter (USB, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth)
  • Internet access for license activation and software updates

A Note on ELM327 Hardware

Not all ELM327 devices on the market are fully compliant — many cheap clones have stripped out required communication functions. If sourcing your own, look for devices branded as “ForScan compatible” or the OHP-branded Wi-Fi adapters, both of which have proven reliable.

Also note, you can use several different ELM327 device connection methods. Wifi, USB and Bluetooth are all compatible with the 4Dcan interface.

Updates

The software checks for updates automatically. New diagnostic functions and improvements are released over time and are always free. You paid once — you benefit forever.

Understanding Fault Codes

A warning light means something triggered a fault — but not always something expensive. Sometimes it’s a momentary sensor glitch that won’t return once cleared. Other times it signals a real mechanical issue that needs repair. Either way, 4Dcan gives you the information to tell the difference before you spend money at a shop.

Shipping

  • Domestic (USA): Flat rate $10 via USPS (hardware orders)
  • International: Flat rate $21 via USPS (typical delivery 6–10 business days)
  • International buyers are responsible for any import duty, tax, or fees
  • Software-only orders ship instantly via email — no physical delivery

Licensing

The 4Dcan software requires a license to operate. Once payment is complete, the activation code will be sent to your email. Licenses can be activated and deactivated on different machines. Licenses are non-transferable — if you purchase used hardware, a new license is required.

Refunds on software purchases will not be granted if the software has been activated online using the license key.

Legacy Windows Support

Windows 7 and Windows 8 are end-of-life operating systems. The software will function on these platforms with additional time and effort, but this is not recommended. Microsoft no longer provides security updates for these systems.

Returns

Returns are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please note that products which have been activated, used to communicate with a vehicle, or otherwise consumed are not eligible for return. To initiate a return inquiry, please contact us within 30 days of purchase.
