Windows 10 and Windows 11 include built-in security features called SmartScreen and Microsoft Defender that are designed to protect you from unknown software. While this is generally a good thing, it can sometimes block legitimate applications from smaller developers like RSW Solutions — even when the software is completely safe.

Windows SmartScreen Block (Blue Screen Warning)
When you download and try to run the installer, Windows may show a blue warning screen that says “Windows protected your PC” or “Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting.”
How to bypass this:
- On the blue SmartScreen warning screen, look for the text that says “More info” — click it
- A new button will appear at the bottom: “Run anyway”
- Click “Run anyway” to proceed with the installation
That’s it. The software will install normally after this step. You only need to do this once — Windows will remember your choice.
Browser Download Block (Edge or Chrome)
Your web browser may also try to block the download before you even get to the installer. You might see messages like “This file is not commonly downloaded” or “This file may be dangerous.”
In Microsoft Edge:
- When the download is blocked, click the “…” (three dots) next to the blocked file in the downloads bar
- Select “Keep”
- If prompted again, click “Keep anyway” or “Show more” then “Keep anyway”
In Google Chrome:
- Click the download warning in the bottom bar
- Select “Keep dangerous file” (despite the alarming name, the file is safe)
- If you don’t see this option, go to chrome://downloads and click “Keep” next to the file
Windows Defender / Antivirus False Positive
In rare cases, Windows Defender or a third-party antivirus may quarantine or delete the installer after download. If the file seems to disappear after downloading:
- Open Windows Security (search for it in the Start menu)
- Go to Virus & threat protection
- Click “Protection history”
- Find the RSW Solutions file in the list
- Click on it and select “Allow on device” or “Restore”
Why Does Windows Do This?
Windows uses a reputation-based system. Software from large companies like Microsoft, Adobe, or Google is automatically trusted because millions of people download it daily. Software from smaller developers — even if it’s perfectly safe — gets flagged simply because fewer people have downloaded it.
This does not mean the software contains a virus or is unsafe. It just means Windows doesn’t recognize the publisher at the scale it expects. RSW Solutions has been distributing diagnostic software for over 15 years without a single security incident. You are downloading directly from us — there is no middleman and no tampering.
